'I hope he doesn’t': David Moyes takes cheeky dig at Sean Dyche ahead of his Everton return

Everton return to the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday afternoon where they will face Sean Dyche and his Nottingham Forest side.

Getting back to winning ways will be crucial for Everton on home soil following last weekend’s shocker against Newcastle United.

Wrongs have been put right since that game, with David Moyes leading the Toffees to an impressive win on the south coast during the week.

Dyche has wished for a welcome reception from Everton fans upon his return to Merseyside on Saturday afternoon.

This will be the 54-year-old’s first experience of the Hill Dickinson Stadium and his successor has made sure he was able to get a cheeky dig in before his arrival.

David Moyes takes Everton dig at Sean Dyche

Chris Sutton has urged Everton fans to welcome Dyche back on Saturday afternoon, despite how some may feel towards him.

Dyche was able to keep the club in the Premier League amid the difficult financial position which the club was in under Farhad Moshiri.

Speaking to the Everton fans in his matchday programme, Moyes has issued his own welcome back to Merseyside for Dyche.

“Sean Dyche led the Club through a very difficult period and he and his staff put an awful lot of hard work and effort into ensuring Everton remained a Premier League club,” said the 62-year-old.

“They did a great job in steering the Club through a very challenging time, but Sean returns today with a different hat on.

“I’m sure he will be interested in seeing the new stadium which was such a big talking point throughout his time as manager. I hope he doesn’t enjoy his return too much!”

Roy Keane does not think Everton will lose to Forest after what he has seen from the Toffees in recent weeks.

Having built up a strong start at the new stadium, it would be a real blow if Everton were to lose twice on the bounce at the Hill Dickinson.

Everton could make a statement by beating Nottingham Forest

By no means have Forest looked like the same side as they were last season, but Dyche has been able to steady the ship at the City Ground.

Moyes is hoping Everton can push for European qualification in the same way that Forest did last season.

To do so, Everton are going to have show some consistency in the Premier League, and three points on Saturday would instil a lot of confidence in this side.

Frustratingly, Moyes may have to get creative again with his starting XI amid all of his injury and suspension issues.

It would please most fans to take three points away from Dyche, and those points could potentially lead as high as fifth, realistically speaking.
