Aston Villa forward Evann Guessand has not been included in the matchday squad to face Arsenal.

The 24-year-old misses out through injury, although it is unclear what the issue is or when he picked it up.

Guessand started in Villa’s 4–3 win over Brighton on Wednesday night, which was his sixth league start of the season.

In the Europa League, he has started all five of Villa’s league phase matches so far, but could now be a doubt to feature against FC Basel on Thursday.

He is expected to be selected for the Ivory Coast squad for AFCON, meaning next weekend’s match away at West Ham United could be his final game for Villa before the tournament.

Meanwhile, Emi Martínez is fit to start against Arsenal this afternoon after overcoming a back injury. He lines up behind a back four of Matty Cash, Ezri Konsa, Pau Torres and Ian Maatsen.

Boubacar Kamara and Amadou Onana operate in the double pivot, with John McGinn, Youri Tielemans and Morgan Rogers supporting striker Ollie Watkins.
