Reece James on his preferred position as Enzo Maresca faces major lineup decision again

Enzo Maresca is about to hand in his team sheet for today’s game against Bournemouth, and one name we’re almost certain will be in there is Reece James.

The captain was rested in midweek to ensure he’s able to play today. One thing we’re not sure of is where he will play however, having split his duties between midfield and right back in recent months.

“I don’t really have preference [on where I play] to be honest,” James said in quotes picked up the club’s official website.

“I’ve played so much in both now, maybe if you asked me a year ago I probably would have had a preference, but the more I’ve kind of played half-and-half in both roles, I’m just happy to be back on the pitch and helping the team.

“I feel very strong at the moment, playing consistently helps a lot. Start and stop, with the injuries, it’s hard to find a rhythm. Good form and good performances come from consistency and being available week in, week out. I’m finally stringing a decent period together.

“I wouldn’t say there’s much difference in what I’m doing now. I just think I understand my body a lot better now than maybe two years ago.”

We don’t want to jinx it, but it’s a year since his last injury and we’re loving how consistently he’s able to play.

Our predicted XI for the game has Cole Palmer missing out on a start, despite Enzo Maresca saying he’s ready for that role.

Liam Delap is the player who could move out of the team for Cole Palmer, and that’s a move a lot of fans would support. His manager made a defence of him in the press conference yesterday, saying he was sure he would start scoring soon.
