BBC reporter shares what Everton fans did after Thierno Barry was withdrawn vs Forest

Everton secured an impressive 3-0 victory against Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.

David Moyes’ side have temporarily climbed the table all the way up to fifth, with games still to be played this weekend.

It was a miserable return to Merseyside for Sean Dyche, who was handed a sobering blow as his side were demolished at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton were fantastic from the start and the cherry on top of the cake was Thierno Barry scoring his first goal for the club.

Although it has taken the 23-year-old his opening 17 appearances to find that elusive goal, but he has now ended the drought.

However, the striker was withdrawn after picking up a yellow card in the second half, and his reception from the fans spoke volumes.

How Everton fans reacted to Thierno Barry’s substitution

Some Everton fans were frustrated with Barry against Bournemouth earlier in the week.

This was not the case on Saturday, with the striker showing a really mature and exciting performance for the fans at the Hill Dickinson.

“Everton fans are on their feet to applaud Thierno Barry off the pitch,” said BBC Sport reporter Gary Rose from the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

“Despite failing to score until today he is a hugely popular player here for his work rate and the hope will be that he can now kick on and score plenty more.”

Moyes has put his trust in Barry after what he has seen from the youngster over recent weeks in the starting XI.

That goal has been coming for the summer signing; now it is time for him to really kick on.

Time for Barry to kick on for Everton

Barry promised to score for Everton on the back of the recent win against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

His work rate cannot be faulted, with the striker causing some real issues for the Forest centre-backs.

It is just a shame that Moyes had to withdraw him because of his booking.

Everton have already lost players through suspensions and the 62-year-old cannot afford another to watch from the sidelines.

Now, it is time for Barry to try and put together a run of games where he finds the back of the net.
