Chelsea dropped points again as they were held to a 0-0 draw at Bournemouth, ending their 13-game scoring streak in the Premier League.
Enzo Maresca made six changes to the side that lost at Leeds United on Wednesday, with Cole Palmer making his first start since September.
Antoine Semenyo thought he had given the hosts the lead inside the opening third minute of the game, but the Ghanaian saw his goal chalked off by the VAR as Evanilson was caught offside in the buildup.
The Cherries continued to mount pressure on the visitors, and minutes later, they appealed for a penalty when Justin Kluivert was brought down in the box by Reece James, but the flag had gone up for offside.
The Blues got their first real chance of the game in the 21st minute after Pedro Neto’s inswinger cross was met by Marc Cucurella, but the Spaniard couldn’t keep his header on target.
Just past the half-hour mark, Semenyo’s low drive was parried away by Sanchez, but Evanilson couldn’t react quickly to tap home the rebound from close range.
Neto had his sights on the goal minutes later, and his curling effort went wide of the far post.
Sanchez kept the visitors in the game with two smart saves in injury time, denying Scott and Semenyo again.
The Cherries resumed the break on a high as Tavernier dragged his long-range effort wide early into the second half.
Chelsea had their first shot on target five minutes after the break, but former Blues’ goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic saved Neto’s powerful low drive towards the near post.
A minute later, Alejandro Garnacho hit the outside of the post with a header following Neto’s cross from the right.
The Blues grew into the game as Palmer’s and Enzo Fernandez’s efforts from outside the area were collected by Petrovic.
The visitors continued looking for the opener, and Marc Guiu soon tested Petrovic from a distance, but the Serbian goalkeeper comfortably gathered the shot.
Minutes later, Garnacho saw his curling effort drift wide of the far post as frustration grew for the visitors.
Semenyo called Sanchez into action again after he unleashed a powerful left-footed shot for the Chelsea goalkeeper to palm away for a corner.
Both teams searched for the winner in the closing stages of the game, but no side found the net, and they shared the spoils.
