Sean Dyche admitted his players didn’t have the edge to their game required to pick up a positive result against Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Nottingham Forest fell to defeat against the Toffees after the home side netted three times unanswered on Merseyside.

Dyche says the players have shown that edge needed since he joined the club, but today it was missing from the performance.

“I don’t think we started right, the whole collective feeling in the group. We had a big result in the week, and I warned them coming up here that they will be at it.

“Credit to them because they had more of an edge. It was nothing to do with the quality of our play, they just had that edge in their play.

“The players have done it well on the whole since we’ve been here but today, we were well short.

“We’re trying to get the mentality in the players that everything they and the club wanted is there in front of them.

“It’s not going to go away so they have to be ready all the time, every day in training and every matchday.

“Then when you come to places like this, you’re ready to go and impact the game. I didn’t think we had a feel of that today right from the off.

“We did the ugly things well against Wolves, but they weren’t there today and that’s the fabric that holds the performance together.”
