Robert Sanchez was Chelsea’s best player in their draw with Bournemouth this afternoon, making some crucial stops which prevented the frustrating draw becoming a devastating defeat.
He’s been on his best run of form since joining the club over the last few months, and kept that up with a few smart stops, including a couple of crucial ones from Antoine Semenyo.

“We wanted the three points, but we didn’t lose and kept the clean sheet. We’ll take the point into our next games. Bournemouth are a great team, they came out with great intensity, but we were able to manage the game after. You know Antoine Semenyo is going to get a shot away so I had to stay ready. We have to keep grinding for these points,” Sanchez said.
“Coming from a loss in the last game, we wanted to redeem ourselves. I think we played well. We kept a clean sheet and didn’t lose the game. We take the point and go into the next game needing three points.”
To be fair to him, he did play well. It’s just the rest of them that didn’t largely.
It wasn’t a disaster, but it was painfully dull, and if just one of the many Bournemouth shots that Sanchez stopped had gone in, there would be a much darker mood around the place.
In other news…
If you really dig deep you can find one positive from the game – our defensive partnership managed to keep a clean sheet, continuing to cement the Chalobah – Fofana duo as the best we’ve got.
Cole Palmer’s return was supposed to spark something, but the attacking midfielder actually ended up featuring in our first 0-0 since the opening day of the season. His stats weren’t great, although his rating was good.
