The Tartan Army will be asked to burn the midnight oil during next summer’s World Cup after Scotland were handed a series of late-night kick-off slots.

The draw for the group stage was held on Friday and pitched Steve Clarke’s side into Group C alongside Brazil, Morocco and Haiti.

It was confirmed last night that the matches will be staged in Boston and Miami — with supporters now scrambling to make travel plans and snap up tickets.

With stadiums and kick-off times now finalised, Scotland will begin the tournament against Haiti in Boston’s Gillette Stadium with a UK kick-off time of 2am — on June 14.

They will then face Morocco at the same venue on Friday, June 19, with an 11pm kick-off UK time — 6pm local time.

Their final match sees the blockbuster clash against Brazil take place in the searing heat of Miami, which will also kick-off at 11pm UK time.

Whilst thousands of fans will descend on America to follow the national team, it leave punters watching at home facing the prospect of staying up into the middle of the night — in contrast to England followers, with Thomas Tuchel’s side handed UK-friendly times of 9pm and 10pm for their three fixtures.

The Gillette Stadium in Boston is the home of the New England Patriots NFL team, with Hard Rock Stadium home to the Miami Dolphins. Scotland missed out on facing Brazil in the air-conditioned Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

England will open their World Cup campaign against Croatia in the air-conditioned comfort of the AT&T Stadium in Dallas.

The match against their 2018 semi-final conquerors kicks off at 9pm UK time on June 17 — 3pm local time in Texas — at the home of the Dallas Cowboys NFL team.

Their second match against Ghana on June 23 is a 4pm kick-off in Boston, 9pm in the UK, while the final group game against Panama at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, is a 5pm kick-off local time — 10pm in the UK on June 27.

The World Cup final will be a 3pm kick-off at the MetLife Stadium — an 8pm kick-off in the UK — on July 19.

Speaking after the draw, Scotland boss Clarke said he would remain in the United States to consider training bases for his squad.

He said: ‘I’ll probably stay out here for another six or seven days to look at one or two hotels and training camps and maybe somewhere we can base ourselves for the tournament.

‘So there’s quite a bit of work to be done before Christmas. After Christmas we’ll be tidying up friendlies and preparations into next year.

‘There’s lots to do and lots to look forward to.’

The Republic of Ireland already knew the venues for their matches should they qualify via the play-offs, having been drawn in Group A against co-hosts Mexico, and now know their potential kick-off times too — 3am, 5pm and 7pm.

Wales and Northern Ireland are two of the four play-off teams competing for a place in Group B alongside co-hosts Canada, plus Switzerland and Qatar. All of their matches, should they make it, would kick off at 8pm BST.
