The Los Angeles Clippers are in hot water once again after they made a shocking decision to begin to cut ties with Chris Paul.
In the midst of all of the criticism getting thrown at the Clippers from frustrated outsiders, an older video of LA's head coach, Ty Lue, has gone viral for negative reasons.
During a preseason practice session, Lue was seen firing off an expletive quote aimed at "CP." With the old video resurfacing on social media, it's leaving fans shocked once again.
However, a former Clippers player attempted to clear the air, in defense of Lue.
Bones Hyland Defends Ty Lue
"Speaking for TLue, this is how he joked around with us," former Clippers guard Bones Hyland said on social media.
"He's a great coach [and] a good dude. He also had that relationship with his players where he talked to us like this [and] it didn't have any animosity behind it. It was simply joking around."
Hyland is a former first-round pick out of VCU, who started his career with the Denver Nuggets in 2021.
As he was 42 games into his second season in the NBA, Hyland was moved to the Clippers in a deadline deal, which included four teams.
The 2023-2024 season was the first and only time Hyland played a full season for Lue and the Clippers. He appeared in 37 games, averaging 6.9 points, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 rebounds.
During his third year in 2024-2025, Hyland was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He remains in Minnesota, re-signing with the Wolves back in September.
Paul will be on his way soon. The Clippers haven't officially waived him, but they will consider all options outside of letting him rejoin the team to finish out his career with the team.
With or without the Lue video making its rounds, the Clippers will remain under fire as the public has strongly supported Paul. The veteran doesn't seem set on calling it a career just yet. He could be back in action with another team soon enough.
