“We were the team closer to win it” – Chelsea only manage 2 goals in last 3 games

Chelsea have only scored two goals in their last three games now, after scoring three in one match versus Barcelona.

The Barcelona game already feels like a distant memory, but Chelsea’s players and staff need to get it back clear in their heads and learn to turn up with that same intensity, belief, and effort in every single game.

What this Chelsea side lack at the moment is confidence and belief against the teams they are expected to beat – the lesser teams. They much prefer to be the underdogs where there is no expectation for them to win, like against Barcelona and Arsenal. Although we didn’t beat Arsenal, we played that game with ten men for about 60 minutes of it and were still the better side.

But against Leeds in the week, a 3-1 defeat and Chelsea deserved to lose. Against Bournemouth yesterday, a 0-0 draw and we didn’t deserve to win it even if Robert Sanchez does claim that we played well and thinks a point is a good result.

Chelsea’s attack were very poor, and the ratings from the game show that. They didn’t even manage a shot on target until a little way into the second half.

Bournemouth deserved the win

Opposition manager Andoni Iraola believes his team deserved all three points yesterday, and I think he’s got a point there.

Speaking to the Daily Echo in his post-match press conference, the 43-year-old said: “I think we’ve played a really solid game. Probably we were the team closer to win it.

“Even if you have to value the point because we were facing a very good team and you always have the fear that they can score a counter or they can make a difference like they did I remember past season’s game that was quite similar.”
