Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite has been flooded with support after issuing a personal update. The 23-year-old is considered a huge talent for Everton and for England.

Branthwaite attracted interest from other Premier League clubs in the summer before signing a new five year-contract with the Blues. However he has been injured since July and has not featured at all for the Toffees this season. Branthwaite’s last Instagram post was on July 2 to mark him signing a new contract.

Earlier today however, that silence was broken in a joint post from him and his long-term partner, Isla Armstrong, announcing their engagement.

There were several pictures of Isla wearing her engagement ring. To mark the occasion, several bouquets of white flowers and candles had been laid out on the balcony of a hotel the pair were staying at in the United Arab Emirates, with views of the Dubai skyline.

Several of Jarrad’s Everton teammates issued their support in the comments section. Fellow defender James Tarkowski said: “Love it Jazza. Congratulations!”

Youth midfielder Harrison Armstrong said: “Congrats brother!”

Meanwhile, his England teammate Harvey Elliott, on loan at Aston Villa from Liverpool, said: “Let’s go! Congratulations to both of you.”

Isla runs a beauty page on Instagram, @islasbeautyy. The couple were first pictured together on Isla’s Instagram page in November 2022. In the comments section of that post, Branthwaite said: “Love you.”

Branthwaite’s injury was described as a 'minor niggle' in July, but the England international has had a setback and now needs surgery on his hamstring.

Everton said in a statement back in October: "Following specialist consultation, it has been determined the defender will undergo a surgical procedure to address the issue.

"Branthwaite will commence a structured rehabilitation programme under the supervision of the club's medical team following the operation."
