Chelsea have a decision to make on the future of the player ahead of the January transfer window

Chelsea drew 0-0 away at AFC Bournemouth over the weekend. They weren’t able to find a winner against the Cherries and were forced to settle for a frustrating point in Dorset. Enzo Maresca’s side are sat in 5th place in the Premier League table after 15 fixtures.

They are a point behind Crystal Palace in 5th and eight off Arsenal at the summit. The Blues are back in action on Tuesday night with a Champions League clash against Atalanta in Italy. They then face Everton at home in the league on Saturday.

Chelsea defender Axel Disasi eyed by West Ham and Newcastle United

West Ham and Newcastle United are among the clubs lining up ‘concrete’ moves for Chelsea defender Axel Disasi, according to CaughtOffside. The centre-back is being linked with an exit from Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window. Borrusia Dortmund, Galatasaray, Lyon and Juventus have also been mentioned as possible suitors in the report, with the Blues said to be ‘open’ to offers.

Disasi, 27, is a France international with five caps to his name. He has fallen out of favour with the London outfit and his long-term future is up in the air. His contract expires in June 2029 but he is in limbo at this moment in time.

Chelsea snapped him up back in 2023 to boost their defensive department. He has since made 61 appearances in all competitions and has chipped in with five goals from the back. The Frenchman was loaned out to Aston Villa just over 12 months ago and went on to play 10 matches for the Midlands club during the second half of last season under Unai Emery.

What now for Axel Disasi at Chelsea amid transfer interest

Chelsea have a decision to make on what to do next with Disasi. Most signs point towards him heading out the exit door for a new challenge elsewhere. He appears to be surplus to requirements under Maresca and a permanent change of scene would do him good and increase his chances of getting some regular game time under his belt.

West Ham are in a battle for survival under Nuno Espirito Santo. The ex-Wolves, Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest man was picked as their replacement for Graham Potter at the London Stadium back in late September. He will be eager to put his own stamp on the squad with some reinforcements this winter and Disasi would bolster his options at the back.

The Hammers may need to see off potential competition from Newcastle next month. The Magpies are positioned in 11th in the league. They would be able to offer the player the chance to play in the Champions League still which could turn his head towards the North East.

Disasi rose up through the ranks at Paris FC and broke into their first-team as a youngster. Stade de Reims came calling and he subsequently continued his development there before switching to AS Monaco. He then went on to make 129 outings during his time in the south of France before Chelsea swooped in.
