Exclusive claims Chelsea could make January striker signing after Liam Delap injury blow

Chelsea not only drew 0-0 over the weekend, they also received a bad injury blow with the news that Liam Delap was set to miss some time.

The striker could miss 6 to 8 weeks with a dislocated shoulder, and according to TeamTalk the club are now considering moving up this summer’s confirmed deal to sign Emanuel Emegha to January to help out. The striker has fallen out with fans at our sister club Strasbourg, and could move early.

Emegha deal might not make as much sense as it seems

We were so sure we would see this story, and we’re just not sure we’re buying it. It may well happen, but it feels like this reporting is just putting two and two together after the injury rather than being any properly unique information.

We too could happily speculate that Chelsea and Strasbourg might now feel it’s better for all parties if the move is brought forward – but that doesn’t mean we have any specific information about it.

There’s also an argument against it – assuming it would take Emegha a couple of weeks after arriving at Chelsea to get up match speed ready to start for Enzo Maresca, Delap could already be back playing by then.

We’re all imagining that the new man will settle in right away – but there’s no guarantees. Delap already had a Premier League season under his belt and is struggling, the same could easily happen with Emegha.
