Liverpool Linked With‘Special’20 Year Old Centre-Back Who Has Already Been Labelled The Next Saliba

Liverpool are considering a move for Rennes centre-back Jeremy Jacquet, according to reports.

Sky Sports Switzerland reporter Sacha Tavolieri claims that Reds scouts have been keeping close tabs on the 20-year-old.

They are believed to have watched him several times this season, and on every occasion they have been left with the impression that Jacquet possesses “something special”.

The Frenchman has been tipped as a potential replacement for Ibrahima Konate, whose contract at Anfield expires at the end of the season, but his style of play is deemed to be more reminiscent of another France international

Jacquet has been compared to Saliba

The centre-half was mentioned as a potential target for Arsenal back in the summer transfer window, and at the time, some observers labelled him the next William Saliba.

Whether Jacquet has the talent to match the Arsenal star, it remains to be seen, but it looks like he has really caught the attention of Liverpool’s recruitment department.

What else should Liverpool fans know about the defender?

Jacquet has limited experience at the highest level, having played just 33 games in France’s top flight.

This season, the France Under-21 international has started all 15 of Rennes’ Ligue One fixtures, and it has been a fairly successful campaign for his team so far, who currently sit in 6th place.

Defensively, they had been pretty decent, conceding 18 goals in their first 14 matches, but they had a bad game against Paris Saint-Germain at the weekend.

Jacquet was sent off for two bookable offences, and his side lost 5-0 with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia getting a brace, and Senny Mayulu, Ibrahim Mbaye and Goncalo Ramos also getting on the scoresheet.

Rennes will now be without Jacquet for their match versus Stade Brestois on Saturday evening due to suspension.
