Chelsea could be sitting in 13th place in 4 weeks as fixtures and table tighten up

When things are going badly for Chelsea, we always saw a nice dense run of games is just what you need to work your way out of a funk.

Well the opposite is true too – the Blues have just gone from what felt like the high point of the Enzo Maresca era into a slump in the space of 10 days. Three games without a win in the Premier League came completely out of nowhere, and given how tight the table us, it counts for a lot.

Tomorrow’s game is in the Champions League, meaning no chance to get points on the board in the Premier League. We’re already worried about facing Everton at the weekend. They’re coming into form nicely and won’t play this week, while we’ll be wheeling out a close to full strength team in Europe.

We don’t want to be doom mongers, but Everton followed by Newcastle away, followed by Aston Villa, followed by Bournemouth, followed by Man City. That’s an ugly run in the league, and given the Cherries are just 5 points behind us in 13th place, a bad run of results could see us genuinely tumble through this bleak December into 2026.

We could realistically walk away from those games with just a couple of points, meaning we could fall into the bottom half by the New Year if all goes wrong.

Chelsea’s preseason for next summer is already taking shape, and the Blues have made a controversial decision to play a game on the other side of the Earth, just 9 days after the World Cup finishes.

Emanuel Emegha is already signed up to join Chelsea in the summer, but some are suggesting that move could be brought forward to January after an injury to Liam Delap that could keep him out for 2 months or more. We’re not so sure that will happen.
