Alan Myers shares what position Everton have to make a priority this January transfer window

Everton are exploring a number of deals ahead of the fast-approaching January transfer window.

David Moyes’ side are absolutely flying in the Premier League, having just beaten Nottingham Forest 3-0 at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

That victory moved Everton to within touching distance of the Champions League spots, so they will be an attractive destination for transfer targets this winter.

If you were David Moyes, which three players would you want to sign in January?

The Toffees have been linked with Antonee Robinson in recent weeks, so clearly a left-back is on the agenda.

With that said, Everton News columnist Alan Myers has just shared what the transfer priorities are next month.

Alan Myers says a striker has to remain top priority for Everton

Speaking exclusively to Everton News, Myers explained that a striker has to remain the top priority for Everton this winter.

“This manager needs help now, we have a glimpse of what is achievable and, the difficulties accepted, this window is really important as far as the next stage of this evolution is concerned,” Myers wrote.

“I still believe another striker is a priority, then a right-back and a central midfielder after that, going back to my initial point, let the fans enjoy the ride but now is a time for focus and concentration for the powers that be more than ever.”

The Toffees have been scouting Troy Parrott, who has been prolific for the Republic of Ireland and AZ Alkmaar this season.

Richarlison could also be an option for Everton

As well as Parrott, Everton have also been linked with a sensational move for former striker Richarlison ahead of January.

It’s understood Richarlison would be keen on a return to Everton, but any forthcoming deal would probably be a loan.

Moyes has looked at Joshua Zirkzee, too, but he’s now playing much more regularly at Manchester United in the absence of Benjamin Sesko, who has picked up a knee injury.

The Toffees must also consider whether signing a new striker would ruin Thierno Barry’s development, as he has shown lots of improvement over the last few weeks.

If they do bring in another forward, they should make sure that he’s happy to rotate with Barry.
