Nottingham Forest have filed a complaint with PGMOL following an off-the-ball incident at the weekend.
Everton were 3-0 winners as Sean Dyche’s side visited Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Indeed, an own goal by Nikola Milenkovic got the Blues off to a great start. Goals from Thierno Barry and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall eased Everton to victory.
However, the comfortable victory was not without controversy. An off-the-ball shoulder barge by James Tarkowski has prompted Forest into making a complaint to PGMOL.
The incident was missed by referee Chris Kavanagh, while VAR did not intervene as it was not deemed worthy of a red card.
Forest manager and former Everton boss spoke of the incident in his post-match comments, stating: “I said to big Tarky, just to be clear, and I respect him and like him as a bloke, I said to him, ‘How he got away with that in the first half?’ I don’t know what’s going on there.
“The referee is honest, I went to see him, and he said he didn’t see it and none of the officials saw it, but I said: ‘VAR saw it and they did nothing about it.’
“I’m very, very surprised at that and I’ve told him (Tarkowski) that I’m going to tell you this, by the way. Equally, and really crying it in, for the second goal, it hits the referee on the way through, diverts it right into his path.
“They’re on a breakaway, three v one or two, but those things, on a day that you’re not playing well, you don’t need those to go against you, that’s for sure.”
FOREST HIERARCHY WANT RETROSPECTIVE ACTION
Forest insist that Tarkowski’s shoulder barge on Dan Ndoye amounted to violent conduct.
The incident occurred in the 11th minute, with Everton 1-0 up at the time. Sean Dyche’s side believe a Tarkowski dismissal could’ve changed the outcome of the game.
It may have been petulant from the Everton defender. However, his arms were not raised. Even in this day and age, it’s never a sending off.
They may appeal, but surely nothing will come of this one.
