Chelsea learn their FA Cup third round opponent, it’s a London derby

The draw has just been made for the third round of the FA Cup, and Chelsea’s next obstacle in the quest for silverware has been revealed.

Premier League and Championship sides are entering the frame after earlier clashes between the lower-league outfits.

Chelsea lost to Brighton in last season’s FA Cup and will be looking for redemption after tasting silverware on two occasions since Enzo Maresca’s arrival.

Peter Crouch and Joe Cole were on hand to reveal the outcome of the draw. The fixtures are due to take place around a month from now, and Chelsea will be expecting a routine weekend after finding out their opponent.

Chelsea will face off against Charlton Athletic in the third round of the FA Cup

The Blues haven’t won the FA Cup since 2018, when an Eden Hazard penalty sank Manchester United in the final.

The first step to getting back to the Wembley podium will be to beat Championship side Charlton Athletic side

Charlton are currently in the 17th in the Championship standings. The last time the two faced off was in 2007, their last season in the Premier League.

It’s a match Chelsea will expect to win, though not the easiest they could have gotten.

Now, all focus back to Tuesday night’s Atalanta clash.
