Arsenal are aiming to win the Premier League title this season under the guidance of Mikel Arteta
Arsenal are back in action on Wednesday night with an away trip to Belgium to play Club Brugge in the Champions League. They have been in decent form in Europe over recent times and are yet to lose this season in the competition. Mikel Arteta will want his team to keep their momentum going for as long as possible.
The Gunners lost 2-1 away at Aston Villa over the weekend. Nevertheless, they remain top of the Premier League table after 15 fixtures. Next up for them in the league is a home clash against struggling Wolves.
Arsenal transfer update regarding Kenan Yildiz
Arsenal have made ‘contact’ with Juventus attacker Kenan Yildiz, according to Italian journalist Gianni Balzarini. The Gunners are being linked with the player ahead of the January transfer window. They have the chance to sign some new players this winter.
Reporter Balzarini has said, as per a report by TuttoJuve: "There’s been real contact with Arsenal, that is, Arsenal have asked for information, it’s part of the game, there’s no negotiation, let’s be clear, but they have asked for information about this player who, in my opinion, could also do very well in the Premier League. Given his physical and technical characteristics, and so it’s clear that after all this atmosphere here, a sort of halo is forming around the boy, the player who, for his part, I also understand, may claim the need to play in a better team."
Yildiz, 20, is under contract at Juventus until June 2029 meaning his current club are under no pressure to sell him anytime soon and can wait for the right offer to come in for his signature. He has made 23 appearances in all competitions so far this season and has scored nine goals, five of which have come in Serie A. In addition, he has chipped in with seven assists. His price tag is said to be around the £87million mark, CalcioMercato have claimed.
Where would Kenan Yildiz fit in at Arsenal?
Arsenal could see Yildiz as someone to bolster their attacking department. If he joined, he would give them more competition and depth at the top end of the pitch. In addition, he would provide them something different to what they already have at their disposal in his position.
The Turkey international, who has 26 caps under his belt, started his career with spells as a youngster in Germany at Sallern Regensburg and Jahn Regensburg. Bayern Munich snapped him up in 2012 and he spent 10 years at the Allianz Arena. Juventus then came calling for his services in 2022 and he has since broken into their first-team.
He is still young and has bags of potential to get better in the future. Landing him would be a shrewd long-term decision by the Gunners and a sign that they are planning for down the line with their recruitment. They have made some eye-catching additions over recent years that has helped them compete consistently at the top end of the division.
Arsenal will be disappointed to have lost to Aston Villa last time out. Emi Buendia scored a last-gasp winner for their opponents. Leandro Trossard got their goal at Villa Park.
