UEFA Women’s Champions League football is back at Meadow Park for Tuesday’s visit of FC Twente.
It will be an 8pm kick-off under the lights as we look for a win to cement our position in the play-off places and get closer to the sports for automatic quarter-final qualification.
Twente will also be desperate for the three points, as they currently sit two places outside of the play-off places.
MIXED EMOTIONS
Second in the Vrouwen Eredevisie, it’s been an impressive domestic campaign for Twente so far, who are unbeaten in their league with seven wins and one draw from eight matches.
Those results have them level on points with leaders Ajax, but Twente do have a game in hand.
It’s been a different story in Europe though, as Netherlands’ most successful women’s club have drawn with Chelsea and Benfica and lost to OH Leuven and Atletico Madrid.
WHAT THE MANAGERS SAY
Slegers: “I've been watching their games, the relevant games, in preparation of our game tomorrow. Yeah, so they're a good team. They're a young team, high Dutch representation, and I think with these teams, they're top of the table in the Netherlands.
"They know how to play the game differently as well against European opposition. So it looks like they have a plan for different scenarios. - read every word of Renée’s pre-FC Twente press conference.

Corina Dekker: "We weren't quite as good against Atlético. We were also tired, and we really need to be at 100 percent to hold out. A few individual mistakes didn't help. We want to show what we can do, and we're doing well.
"This match against Arsenal, we want to do that again and show our character. That's what I think is most important. It's about what we do with the ball ourselves, not losing it too quickly, and making good use of the spaces we create."
TEAM NEWS
In her pre-match press conference, Renée provided the latest on Leah Williamson: "Against Liverpool it was good to get her back into routines and also good to have her around. She is doing well, did the full session today again and she's available for a couple of minutes tomorrow. She won’t be starting tomorrow but she’ll be in the squad."
Asked if Kim Little could be starting, our head coach added: "Yeah, we'll see, we'll have to be really smart. It's a small block time-wise with a lot of games. We played Liverpool of course and then we have four games left so we have to be really smart with how we use Kim. It was a loading injury, the calf, so we have to be smart. We'll see tomorrow how many minutes she'll play."
FACTS AND STATS
This will be the first time we face FC Twente in the Champions League, while it will also be the first time we have met with a Dutch team in the competition. Renée Slegers will also become the first Dutch manager to come up against a Dutch club in the competition.
FC Twente have failed to win each of their previous three Champions League games against English opposition (D1 L2), with their only such away game ending in a 6-1 loss to Chelsea in the 2024/25 group stage. They did however draw 1-1 with Chelsea in this season’s league phase.
The team scoring first have won just one of our four Champions League games this season (L3), with us coming from behind to beat Real Madrid on MD4 (2-1). It was only the fourth time that we have come from behind to win a game in the competition after March 2012 vs Göteborg, November 2013 vs Glasgow City and December 2024 vs Bayern Munich.
FC Twente have made just a single change to their starting lineups in the Champions League this season, the fewest of any side; in comparison, we have made 11, the joint-third most.
Alessia Russo is the joint-top scorer in the Champions League this season (four goals) and three of her last seven goals in the competition have been assisted by Chloe Kelly – that is the joint-most times one player has assisted a teammate in 2025, along with Alexia Putellas to Clàudia Pina.
MATCH OFFICIALS

She has seen over two Champions League matches this season, including Chelsea’s 4-0 win at home to Paris FC.
