All smiles: Mood is high in the Chelsea camp despite slipping form
Chelsea Football Newsletter
Chelsea will hope to get back to winning ways this evening as they visit Atalanta in the Champions League.
The Blues are now winless in three after suffering a dismal defeat by Leeds and a forgettable goalless draw with Bournemouth. Those two matches were preceded by a more positive stalemate with league leaders Arsenal.
A win would go a long way for Chelsea as they look to confirm their progression to the next stage of the competition. Thus far, they have taken just ten points from five matches.
In a huge boost for Enzo Maresca, Moises Caiceo will be available for Chelsea despite his domestic suspension. The Blues have looked totally at sea without the Ecuadorian disruptor pulling the strings in midfield.
Liam Delap will be absent, however, after suffering a shoulder injury on the south coast on Saturday.
Atalanta are caught in the midst of a miserable domestic campaign. After finishing third last season, they are now mired in 12th place in Serie A with just 16 points from 14 matches.
La Dea will hope that a 3-1 defeat by relegation-threatened Verona last time out will be the season’s nadir.
