Liverpool have a big decision to make regarding the future of one of their key players ahead of the January transfer window
They won the title under Arne Slot last season but have fallen way short of expectations in this campaign. The Reds are back in action on Tuesday night in the Champions League. They face a tricky away trip to the San Siro to play Inter Milan.
Liverpool winger Mo Salah linked with Real Madrid
According to Fichajes, Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah has emerged on the radar of Real Madrid. The La Liga side are being linked with a swoop for the attacker ahead of the January transfer window. The Spanish news outlet have also suggested a swap deal including Rodrygo is also potentially on the cards this winter.
The Egypt international, who has 109 caps to his name, has been on the books of Liverpool since 2017 and has since made a massive impact. Prior to his move, he had spells with the likes of FC Basel, Chelsea and Roma. He has made 420 appearances in all competitions for the Reds to date and has scored 250 goals, five of which have come this term.
Real Madrid could include Rodrygo in Liverpool swap deal
If Liverpool sell Salah to Real Madrid, getting Rodrygo in return would be an absolute no-brainer. The Brazilian star would be an eye-catching addition for the Reds and would fill the gap left by Salah’s exit. He would give Slot another option to pick from going forward and his pace and power is likely to cause opposition defenders some serious issues. It would be an absolutely blockbuster bit of business in January with players swapping between two of the world’s biggest clubs - and would certainly get everybody talking.
At the age of 24, Rodrygo, is nine years younger than Salah so would be a shrewd long-term acquisition. In addition, he has proved his quality over in Spain and has all the attributes to perform in the Premier League. He has been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City earlier this year, as per TEAMtalk.
Rodrygo rose up through the academy at Santos and was a regular for them at various different youth levels before breaking into their first-team as a youngster. Real Madrid then brought him over to Europe from South America as a teenager in 2019. He has since won everything with the Spanish giants and has fired 68 goals in 287 outings.
He has fallen out of favour under ex-Liverpool man Xabi Alonso recently though and like Salah, may well move on in the near future for a change of scene somewhere else. The Osasco-born man is the sort of player who can get fans off their seats and would sell thousands of shirts. Therefore, he would be an ideal signing for the Reds both on and off the pitch.
