Barcelona defender Hector Fort is discovering a fresh wave of confidence and form during his loan spell at Elche.
Under the guidance of Eder Sarabia, the 19-year-old full-back has seen his game flourish notably, having clocked more than 400 minutes in 10 appearances for the La Liga team.
Sarabia recently highlighted Fort’s contributions after an impressive showing in Elche’s convincing 3-0 triumph over Girona.
The Elche coach expressed his satisfaction with the player’s progress by stating,
“We managed to get the best out of him. We are very happy because he is performing at a very high level.”
Fort’s impact on the pitch has become undeniable, especially as he not only secured two assists against Girona but also earned a standing ovation from fans at the Martinez Valero stadium.
It must be noted that while Fort had a slow start to his new life at Elche, he has accumulated 245 minutes over his last four matches, stepping into the starting lineup three times.

His only absence from the starting XI came during the Copa del Rey clash with Quintanar del Rey, where he made a dramatic difference by netting the decisive goal deep into extra time, securing Elche’s advance into the round of 32.
While his development is clearly underway, Sarabia acknowledges that Fort is still in the early stages of his professional journey and is managing his game time accordingly.
“Hector is still young and hasn’t played that often. It’s part of the process,” said the Elche boss.
Barcelona keeping an eye
Back at Barcelona, there is widespread approval of Fort’s valuable minutes and steady growth at Elche.
The Catalan giants are confident in his progress and appreciate that he is gaining important match experience under a manager who embraces and mirrors Barça’s style of play.
With the season reaching its midpoint, Fort’s trajectory at Elche points to a young talent honing his craft, ready to return stronger, which would be very crucial for Barcelona’s future defensive setup.
