Everton release statement to supporters after the ‘lows over recent years’

It’s been a very challenging period for Everton over the last few years, with multiple relegation battles and financial issues to contend with.

It all started during the summer of 2021, when Carlo Ancelotti decided to leave Everton to return to Real Madrid.

In came Rafa Benitez, who wasn’t a popular appointment, and he was given just £1.7m to spend in the summer transfer window due to PSR issues.

That almost resulted in a relegation that season, and Sean Dyche helped to save the club on the final day of the following campaign, with Abdoulaye Doucoure netting that famous goal against Bournemouth.

But thankfully, those miserable days are behind Everton as they’re in a much better position under The Friedkin Group and David Moyes.

That said, the club have just released a statement to supporters on social media.

That said, the club have just released a statement thanking fans for their support through the dark days and hope this new era will bring a lot more joy.

“Thanks for your support, Toffees,” Everton’s X account posted.

“Through the highs and lows over recent years, your unity was unrivalled. It’s great to see it being rewarded, and we hope this is just the start. UTT!”

Everton have good reason to be confident heading into Chelsea clash

Everton supporters will be in the capital this Saturday afternoon, as the Toffees take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Moyes’ side should be confident of another positive result, as they actually sit third in the Premier League form table (last five games).

# Team Points

1 Aston Villa 15

2 Man City 12

3 Everton 12

4 Crystal Palace 10

5 Newcastle United 10

6 Nottingham Forest 9

7 Arsenal 8

8 Chelsea 8

Chelsea sit down in eighth, having won two, drawn two and lost one of their last five league outings, so they aren’t in brilliant form by any means.

Plus, they were recently beaten 3-1 by newly-promoted Leeds United, so they are a side that can be got at.

Idrissa Gueye will be back available for selection, too, so that will be a boost for Moyes if he decides to start the veteran midfielder.
