A Chelsea and a Tottenham star have made the Premier League team of the week.
A Chelsea and a Tottenham star did enough to make the Premier League team of the week after a busy few days of action. It was a particularly disappointing week for Chelsea, who ended the week winless despite facing two bottom half teams in Leeds United and AFC Bournemouth.
Enzo Maresca’s men lost the first of those games and had to settle for a point on the South coast, losing their top four spot in the process.
It proved to be a much better week for Tottenham, who more than played their part in a dramatic away draw against Newcastle United that saw them concede late then score in stoppage time to secure a point on Tyneside.
Spurs then produced a complete performance to defeat Brentford at home, closing the gap on the top four to four points with all the weekend’s action completed. After scoring the first of the two goals against Brentford, Richarlison did enough to make the Premier League team of the week.
The Brazilian landed a WhoScored rating of 7.7, grabbing a place in the front two, alongside Liverpool’s Hugo Ekitike, who posted an 8.5 rating.
At the other end of the pitch, Chelsea keeper Robert Sanchez secured the goalkeeper spot in the team of the week with a rating of 8.1. The Spaniard kept a clean sheet against Bournemouth, which will have helped.
Elsewhere in the best XI, Manchester City’s Nico O’Reilly (7.8) and Ruben Dias (8.1) make the cut, as do Everton’s Michael Keane (8.0) and Aston Villa’s Matty Cash (7.6).
In the midfield, Manchester City’s Rayan Cherki (9.1) and Everton’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (8.6) make up the centre of the park, with Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon (8.5) and Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai (8.1) making up the wings.
