Alejandro Garnacho is an experienced player in this Chelsea group, and he knows he has an important role to play in tonight’s game against Atalanta.
The winger spoke very maturely in the pre-match press conference yesterday about the game ahead and how it will affect our season as a whole.

“Obviously, every game is important. We know when we play away it’s a little bit harder, but in the Champions League every team can beat you.
“It’s a big opportunity for us to get the three points and I think we’re going to be there in the top. We are focused on the game, like every game, and just to win.
“We expect a strong team and a difficult match. We play away, they have their fans, so it’s not going to be easy, but we have come here and we will try to do our work to get the three points and take them home.”
If they get them, they take another huge step towards dodging the February extra knockout round, and take the pressure off the away trip to Napoli to end the league phase. Let’s get the job done, boys.
In other Atalanta news…
Garnacho also spoke a little about coming to Chelsea and what Enzo Maresca has told him to do to make sure he gets in the team. Those qualities are likely to be on full display tonight as we look to secure a huge 3 points against a dangerous team.
One person who wasn’t in the training session yesterday was Cole Palmer – but we’ve been assured this was all totally normal. He’s just being managed on his return from injury, and we already know when we will next see him in the team.
