Arsenal add Gabriel esus to Champions League squad as Dowman drops out

Arsenal have announced that Gabriel Jesus has been added to the Champions League squad with immediate effect.

He replaces Max Dowman, who picked up an ankle injury during the 3-0 behind closed doors friendly with Manchester United last weekend.

Last month, the 15 year old became the youngest ever player in the Champions League when he came on in our 3-0 win over Slavia Prague, but will no not be eligible to play again until the group stages.

Meanwhile Jesus, who also took part in that training game, is with the squad on the trip to face Club Brugge tomorrow evening.

His last European appearance came in December 2024, when he started a 3-0 home win over Monaco. Initially left out of the squad because of the ACL injury he picked up in January, he’ll be delighted to be back in the group and no doubt pushing for some playing time in Belgium.

We await full team news from Mikel Arteta later this evening when he holds his pre-game press conference, but it was reported earlier that Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard are doubts, while once again William Saliba was missing from training.

We’ll bring you any further updates here later on.
