LeBron James names his best NBA season, confirms fans’ long-running belief

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has had one of the best careers in NBA history. Many believe the four-time NBA champion has had the longest prime for a legend, as he continued to perform at an elite level well into his late 30s.

Picking the best season of his career isn’t easy, considering that he had an unmatched run as soon as he started competing for championships. However, James revealed what he thinks was his best season. Although he didn’t win the championship that season, James was superior to his opponents.

“King James” went with the 2017-18 season in the latest edition of his “Mind the Game” podcast.

“If you asked me what I feel was my best season that I had, where I felt the most complete as a basketball player, I would say 2018,” James said. “I felt like I could do no wrong out there on the basketball floor. Offensively, defensively, I felt no flaws in my game. I felt like every time I stepped out on the floor, I really could do anything I wanted to do. All three levels defensively, guard all three levels.

“I still feel that way, but it was just another level of that in 2017-18, with the team that we had. That season right there, I felt that was probably my most complete season.”

James was on another level that season. He was two years removed from winning his third NBA title and was poised to add another trophy to his cabinet. This happened to be the second year of Kevin Durant with the Golden State Warriors, which ruined James’ plans.

He played 82 games, averaging 27.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, 9.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game. He shot 54.2% from the floor, 36.7% from deep and 73.1% from the free-throw line.

James elevated his game in the playoffs, averaging 34 ppg, 9.1 rpg 9.0 apg, 1.9 bpg and 1.4 spg, shooting 53.9% from the floor, 34.2% from beyond the arc and 74.6% from the free-throw line.

This was the season when the infamous JR Smith blunder happened in Game 1 of the Finals, which many believed led to the Cavaliers getting swept by the Warriors. Although that season didn’t end as expected, James took the league by storm and played the best basketball of his career.
