Liverpool will be able to freshen up their ranks with some reinforcements this winter when the January window opens up
Liverpool were busy on the recruitment front in the summer and delved into the market to sign a host of players. They brought in the likes of Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, among others, to freshen up their squad. However, it has taken a while for all their new addition to gel together.
The Reds have struggled for form in the league over recent times. Arne Slot’s side find themselves down in 10th position in the Premier League table. They won the title in the last campaign but have found it difficult to reach the same heights this season.
Liverpool face Manchester City competition in Yan Diomande transfer chase
According to CaughtOffside, Manchester City have joined Liverpool in pursuit of £87million-rated RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande. The pair are being linked with a swoop for the Bundesliga ace ahead of the January transfer window. They both have the opportunity to bolster their squads this winter.
Diomande, who is an Ivory Coast international with four caps to his name, could be seen by Liverpool as someone to add more quality to their attacking department. They need to start thinking about long-term replacements for Mohamed Salah, who is facing an uncertain future. City are also in the frame though meaning they will need to see off other teams in this particular transfer pursuit.
Would RB Leipzig ace Yan Diomande suit Liverpool?
Diomande looks to be a promising talent and would be a shrewd addition by Liverpool if they managed to get him through the door. He joined up with Leipzig in July and penned a five-year contract running until 2030. Therefore, they are under no pressure to sell him anytime soon and can wait for the right offer to come in for his signature.
The teenager has scored seven goals in 15 matches and has adapted well to life in Germany, despite his tender age. Prior to his move to the Bundesliga, he broke into the first-team of Leganes. He played 10 matches last term in La Liga and found the net twice before heading out the exit door for a new challenge.
Reporter Graeme Bailey has recently hailed Diomande, as per TBR Football: “Despite Ole Werner having summer signing Johan Bakayoko and Norwegian star Antonio Nusa at his disposal, Diomande is the one everyone is talking about and looking at. He really is special, I am told Red Bull think he could be their greatest prospect since Erling Haaland. Leipzig say there is no release clause, and already he is being talked about in the £88 million category. From what I am hearing from scouts and clubs, there is not a player currently in Europe who has clubs more excited. Could he have a third club in 18 months, come next summer? It’s not beyond the realms of possibility.”
