Barry thanked Everton fans after the game for their continued support through this difficult period, which saw him go 16 games without a goal.

David Moyes admitted he was considering dropping Barry for Beto if he didn’t score on Saturday, so it really was a pivotal goal.

The former Villarreal frontman actually admitted that he did something in secret before the Forest clash, which helped him get off the mark.

The Toffees striker is also working hard in the gym to develop his physique.

I think if you watch my first game and today, it’s different. I try work with my body to feel stronger. So, yeah, I think I need to keep going like this.”

Iliman Ndiaye and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall were delighted for Barry after his first goal, as they left words of support under his Instagram post.

Barry added that Moyes has been very clear on what he wants to achieve at Everton this season, as he is constantly reminding the players of his European aspirations.

“I think the ambition is here. (The manager) said he wants to go to Europe, so we try to fight with the big teams in the league. We don’t have pressure because the pressure is on the top.”

Those goals certainly look very achievable as the Toffees are currently projected to get 60 points based on their points per game so far.

The points tally would’ve got you seventh in the 2023/24 season, although last year it would’ve only been enough for ninth.

So, they are on course to be in and around the Conference League spot come May.
