We asked ChatGPT to Predict the Top Goalscorers in Europe’s 5 Top Leagues

As we approach the midpoint in the 2025/26 season, let’s take a break from the hustle and bustle of the festive season – today, we’ll be letting ChatGPT do the thinking for us.

We asked ChatGPT who the top scorers across Europe’s top five leagues will be at the end of the season. Of course, this includes La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1, the Bundesliga and the Premier League. Do you agree with ChatGPT’s picks?

La Liga: Kylian Mbappe

No surprises here – with 16 goals from 16 La Liga games, Real Madrid ace Kylian Mbappe is currently the top goalscorer in Spain’s top division by a wide margin.

The second-top scorer in La Liga, Barcelona’s Ferran Torres, has scored 11 goals for comparison. After a shaky start to life at the Bernabeu, Mbappe is getting back to his untouchable best.

Serie A: Lautaro Martinez

There aren’t any massive goalscorers in Serie A this season. Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez is joint-top of the scoring ranks alongside AC Milan’s Christian Pulisic, but they have each only scored seven goals this season.

As such, the field is relevatively open in Serie A where the Golden Boot is concerned. Despite this, as a natural striker, Martinez probably has more chance of being the top goalscorer at the end of the season than Pulisic does, even if the American boasts a superior goals to games ratio.

Ligue 1: Joaquin Panichelli

Like in Serie A, the goalscoring table in Ligue 1 is wide open. This marks the first time that ChatGPT chose someone who isn’t the current top scorer in the league – RC Strasbourg’s Joaquin Panichelli is second in terms of individual goals scored, just behind former Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood.

Nevertheless, with nine goals in 15 league games, Panichelli is in a strong position to take home the Ligue 1 Golden Boot at the end of the season. At just 23 years of age, a glittering future surely awaits him in the world of professional football.

Bundesliga: Harry Kane

If ChatGPT answered this question with anyone other than ex Tottenham striker Harry Kane, we’d have been on the phone to the developers. Kane has dominated Germany’s top division this season, scoring an eye-watering 17 goals in 13 league games.

Kane is in the form of his life right now – just in time for the 2026 World Cup. Can he replicate his Bayern Munich performances for England in the summer? Only time will tell.

Premier League: Erling Haaland

Again, this one was a real no-brainer. Erling Haaland suffered a bit of a blip throughout the 2024/25 season, but is back to his best in 2025/26 for Manchester City. So far, the Norweigian international has found the back of the net 15 times over the course of 15 Premier League outings.

There is little more to be said about Haaland that hasn’t already been said. He has it all – his limitless ability and goliath-esque physicality are backed up by an unwavering drive to succeed on the football pitch. This is Haaland’s world – we’re just living in it.

It seems unlikely given the drama with Mo Salah lately that he can compete for the title and Arsenal man Viktor Gyokeres and Man United’s Benjamin Sesko are struggling for form and fitness so Haaland looks unstoppable right now.
