Mohamed Salah continues to dominate headlines this week after his explosive comments saw him omitted from Champions League squad. He did not travel with his teammates to Italy for Tuesday night's clash with Inter Milan, where Dominik Szoboszlai scored the decisive goal in a 1-0 victory.
With the January transfer window opening in three weeks, is being linked with a move away from Anfield. Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad are reportedly the frontrunners to sign the 33-year-old if he departs Liverpool.
When asked whether Salah had played his last game for the club, manager Arne Slot said: "I have no clue. I cannot answer that question at this point in time. I am a firm believer that there is always a possibility to return for a player. I can leave it with that, I think."
Meanwhile, before later making a U-turn and apologising to the forward live on air.

The Liverpool boss Slot was asked whether Salah could return against Brighton this weekend after their 1-0 Champions League win over Inter Milan.
"Well, you say everyone makes mistakes in life but the question is should the players also recognize that as well," he said.
"And should the initiative come from the player or from me?"

Virgil van Dijk has spoken about the difficult situation involving Mo Salah and Liverpool over the last few days.
"Between Mo and the club, things are going on," he said on Amazon Prime Video. "He's not here today; that's the reality, but I don't think anything has changed in terms of our focus and determination.
"I'm not the one to speak if someone has to apologize. It's him airing his feelings for the past couple of days. That's something the club has to deal with, obviously, me as well.
"But the focus was there; nothing else changed. He trained as well. The reality also is that Mo is going to Africa (AFCON) soon. I've known him for such a long time, we are good friends and have been through highs and lows. We speak and those types of things will stay indoors as it should be."
Jurgen Klopp has previously praised Mo Salah as a 'fantastic human being' despite a well-documented clash between the duo during their time together at Liverpool.
While Salah's rapport with Slot appears to have deteriorated, his former manager Klopp has championed the Liverpool icon. In comments made last year, the German lauded Salah's personality and insisted he merited a fresh contract at Anfield,
"He's a fantastic player, a fantastic human being, an outstanding athlete. The best ambassador your country could have. I hope he stays at Liverpool."
Naturally, Klopp and Salah had their own disagreements during the German's tenure at Anfield. The duo notably clashed on the touchline during a stalemate with West Ham at the London Stadium in May 2024.

Arne Slot refused to be drawn on the next development of Mohamed Salah's Liverpool future, insisting Tuesday night's 1-0 win over Inter should be about the players involved in Milan.
Salah didn't travel to Italy after his controversial post-match interview at Leeds United where he claimed he had been 'thrown under the bus' by the club after being dropped to the bench for the previous three games.
Slot was asked about a potential apology from Salah on Amazon Prime by Netherlands legend Clarence Seedorf but the Reds boss stopped short of explaining how the exiled No.11 could earn a way back into the fold.
"I am happy that you asked that," Slot said in his post-match interview. "Clarence said that in his opinion [Mo and I should speak] and I said that is his opinion and I didn’t say anything about who should make the first step or whatever.
"It was his opinion and I am happy I can clarify that so the headline tomorrow is not what I have said. It was [Seedorf's] opinion. Where I stand on that is that tonight it should be all about the players that are here. I can understand on Friday I will get a lot of questions about other things but tonight it is about the ones who are here."
