Leeds United have again been dragged into the controversy surrounding Mo Salah and Liverpool, which has been reverberating since the 3-3 draw at Elland Road last weekend.
Salah was an unused substitute in the game between Leeds and Liverpool, and his post-match comments attacking Arne Slot and the Reds steered the proverbial hornet’s nest.

The forward, who is third on Liverpool’s highest goalscorers list with 250 strikes, was left out of the squad for their trip to Inter Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Liverpool won 1-0 in Italy, but Leeds and the ramifications of Salah’s comments are still being discussed, with Alan Shearer now jibing in with his thoughts on the situation.
Alan Shearer references Leeds United in the trouble between Mo Salah and Liverpool
Shearer conceded that he understands Salah is feeling singled out for Liverpool’s problems this season and how his performances are under scrutiny, while very few Liverpool players are actually performing.
He pointed out the Liverpool star is feeling aggrieved that he is not being asked to help the team against sides such as Leeds at Elland Road, given his record.
However, he insisted that Salah had no business washing the dirty laundry in public at Elland Road.
“Mo will be looking at other players in the team, and he’ll be thinking that they are not playing well, but they’re still playing”, Shearer said on Amazon Prime Video.
“He feels he’s taken the brunt of the criticism, but sometimes you have to accept that when you are a superstar in a football club like he is.
“From his mentality, that is how he will be feeling. He’ll also be thinking, hang on, we are going away to Leeds United, we’re not winning, and you’re not putting me on to win the game.
“We’re drawing at home to Sunderland, I am not starting, and we have not played well. So that’s how he’ll be feeling, but that doesn’t excuse what he’s said to the media.”
Leeds enjoyed the feud between Salah and Slot
Leeds were pleased to see Salah on the bench when Liverpool took the pitch at Elland Road on Saturday, and they were happier when Slot didn’t throw him in as a substitute.
He is one of the last players Leeds would have wanted to face. He is not only one of the modern Premier League greats, but his record against the Whites is also scary.
Salah has played six times against Leeds in the Premier League and has scored nine goals and registered one assist. Slot may have played him if he had any idea about his record.
Leeds were more than happy to take advantage of the feud between the two and avoid playing against a star who likes scoring against the Whites.
