Myles Turner tries to steady the ship as Bucks sink and Giannis trade rumors continue

The Milwaukee Bucks continue to slip in the Eastern Conference standings, and Giannis Antetokounmpo’s calf injury, which will sideline him for several weeks, only puts them in a deeper hole. The Bucks sit at 10-15 and hold the tenth spot in the East, a position that has only intensified the growing talk around a potential Giannis trade.

According to Chris Haynes, Antetokounmpo recently spoke to the locker room and urged his teammates to tune out the chatter about a possible trade. His message doesn’t silence the speculation, though, and it adds a bit more weight to the belief that he could be inching toward a trade request as the Bucks continue to search for answers.

Losing Giannis would push the Bucks into a long reset, yet if he asks out, it’s tough to see the franchise turning its back on the greatest player it has ever had. Even so, Myles Turner, brought in during the busy offseason that included Milwaukee waiving and stretching Damian Lillard’s contract, is encouraging the group to stay calm and avoid reacting out of fear.

“I don’t think it’s time to panic, personally. I think it’s time to be aware, and I think being aware and being panicked are two very different things,” Turner said in an interview via Bucks insider Stephen Watson.

Turner chased a bigger payday this past offseason, choosing Milwaukee after feeling slighted by the Pacers’ contract proposal. But that decision has quickly turned sour for him. He secured the salary he wanted, yet the Bucks are drifting with no clear direction, and now he faces the possibility of being moved again. In the end, he may lose control of what comes next anyway.

Turner hasn’t delivered much in a Bucks uniform, putting up just 12.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists, numbers that fall short of what he usually provides. If Milwaukee chooses to start over, he could find himself on the move too, with little say in what comes next.
