Jamie Carragher apologises to Mohamed Salah

The festive period is supposed to be about joy, celebration, and goodwill. At Liverpool Football Club, however, it has been anything but.

The Reds are navigating their most turbulent season in recent memory after Mohamed Salah’s outburst on Saturday evening.

When the cameras rolled on Sky Sports’ flagship show, Monday Night Football, Carragher was ready to respond and did not mince his words.

“I thought it was a disgrace what he did after the game,” Carragher stated bluntly.

“Some people have painted it as an emotional outburst, I do not think it was. I think whenever Salah stops in the mix zone, which he’s done four times in eight years at Liverpool, it’s choreographed between him and his agent to cause maximum damage and to strengthen his own position.”

He accused Salah of deliberately choosing the worst possible moment to air his grievances—right after Liverpool had conceded a last-minute equalizer to Leeds, leaving the club and its supporters “in the gutter”.

Carragher added that Salah’s timing was calculated, designed to pile pressure on Slot and potentially even force the Dutchman out of the job.

However, many sections of the Reds fanbase felt that it was over the top, especially his comments around Salah’s time before Liverpool and his career with the Egypt national team.

And thankfully, it seems that fellow pundit Micah Richards was able to coax an apology out of Jamie Carragher, asking on the CBS Sports Panel on Tuesday night:

“Would you like to apologise to Mo, and just say sorry for any disrespect?” he asked

“It just comes from passion, you’re a fan, go on, just say it down the lens.”

Carragher replied: “Mo, I apologize if I have upset you.”

“I love you as the Liverpool player, but you just need to behave yourself off the pitch.”

Richards added: “That’s fair, that looked very genuine,” and shook the hand of the former Liverpool defender.
