Mohamed Salah's dramatic outburst following Liverpool's 3-3 draw at Leeds United has become the single biggest talking point in world football, as everyone with a voice gives their thoughts. One of the most important opinions for Liverpool fans is that of Steven Gerrard.
When you talk about Liverpool legends, Gerrard is always very close to the top of that list. The ex-England captain was one of the greatest players of his generation, but also a born leader. He's shown exactly why that is with his measured response to Salah's comments.
While Jamie Carragher went on an eight-minute tirade against the words Salah spoke on Monday Night Football, Gerrard looked at the situation from both perspectives.
Steven Gerrard Calls on Action From Virgil van Dijk

Speaking to TNT Sports, Gerrard was asked for his thoughts on the entire situation, which has seen Salah claim the club have 'thrown him under the bus' after he was left out of three consecutive starting XIs. The midfielder-turned-manager first looked at it from the player's point of view:
"He’s obviously really upset he’s not playing, which I respect.
"He won’t sit out of the team, which I respect. The couple of lines about throwing people under the bus [is] wrong. He needs to reverse a little bit away from that."
Gerrard then called for action to be taken by both Arne Slot and captain Virgil van Dijk, continuing: "He needs to deal with that with the manager. This needs Virgil van Dijk to go, 'How are we sorting this out for the benefit of not the club, or the team, but the fans?'"
Calling on his own experiences, the 45-year-old then went on to claim he thinks Salah will look back on his words with some regret. Gerrard added:
"We’ve all had head losses as players. We’ve all done emotional things. And I know in time when this all calms Mo will go, ‘I shouldn’t have said that, I maybe shouldn’t have said that, I was a bit emotional, I was a bit hasty.’ "
Undoubtedly the biggest star in the Liverpool dressing room, Gerrard wants to see Salah back in the red shirt after he was left at home for the 1-0 Champions League win vs Inter Milan.
"But at the end of the day, Liverpool football club needs Mo Salah, back playing well, back scoring goals, because he is the best player, the best scorer, and he will help them get out of this. If this goes on, this is bigger than what we all know and what we see."
Liverpool Fans Love Gerrard's Take on Salah

Gerrard's words of wisdom have gone down exceptionally with the vast majority of Liverpool supporters. The fan base has been split down the middle in the war between Salah and the club in recent days, but the former captain seems to have hit the nail on the head.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), one fan was much more impressed with Gerrard's opinion on the situation than another Reds legend's, saying: "Fair play Stevie. Calm measured response. You need to have a word with your mate Carra."
More praise flooded in for the retired skipper, with one X user replying: "Stevie backing a fellow club legend and helping him to navigate a very difficult situation- partly of his own making. That’s what legends do."
"This is how a proper legend speaks about the situation," another added. Gerrard's legendary status among the Merseyside fan base seems to only grow stronger whenever he speaks out about big issues.
One final fan said: "This is someone who is actually speaking with the best interests of 'their club' in mind."
