Enzo Maresca fires clear Everton warning to his Chelsea players after Champions League defeat

Everton can make it five wins from their last six Premier League games this weekend against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The two sides are coming into the game in completely contrasting form, with Everton marching up the table over recent weeks.

David Moyes appears to have found the winning recipe on Merseyside, having won twice on the bounce away to Bournemouth and then at home to Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

Chelsea have a number of injury concerns heading into the game against Everton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The Londoners are now returning to the capital having tasted another defeat away to Atalanta on Tuesday evening in the Champions League.

However, focus is quickly turning to the game against the in-form Toffees, with Enzo Maresca sharing a clear message to his players.

What Enzo Maresca said to his Chelsea players ahead of Everton

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has been impressing at Everton in recent weeks, with three goals in his last four appearances.

The 27-year-old will be making a return to the Bridge for the first time since he departed for the Hill Dickinson Stadium over the summer.

Speaking after the game on Tuesday, Maresca has sent a clear message to his players ahead of their game against the Blues.

“Now the game is finished. Now the focus has to be on Saturday’s game because now we need to win games as soon as possible,” he told the media.

Everton’s dreadful record away to Chelsea is not something that should concern the Blues heading into Saturday’s game.

Moyes broke his Old Trafford curse late last month by securing his first away win at the Theatre of Dreams.

It has been a season for breaking records at Everton and this is certainly one that the Blues must fancy themselves to break against a struggling Chelsea side.

Chelsea could be missing key player against Everton

Maresca has already shared an injury update on Cole Palmer ahead of Everton’s visit to the Bridge on Saturday.

However, he was dealt another blow on Tuesday evening, with Wesley Fofana suffering his own injury against Atalanta.

‘Wes [Fofana] has a problem in his eye. In this moment it is quite bad, he struggles to see a little bit. But hopefully he can be okay and available for Saturday,” Maresca said after the game.

In contrast, Everton will have Idrissa Gana Gueye back as well as Tiom Iroegbunam, with the pair both returning from their respective suspensions.

Moyes wants Everton to push for European qualification and this is the type of game where they could make a real statement in that pursuit.
