Liverpool Will Make Darwin Nunez Demand As They Prepare To Sell Mo Salah

Liverpool will ask Al-Hilal for a fee in excess of the €53m plus add-ons they paid for Darwin Nunez in transfer talks for Mo Salah, according to reports.

Writing for GiveMeSport, journalist Ben Jacobs claims that the Reds have an “excellent relationship” with the Saudi Pro League side, and it could lead to Salah joining Nunez in the Middle East when the transfer window opens next month.

Salah’s explosive interview, bemoaning the fact that he has been benched, will likely lead to him being sold in January.

Due to his salary, a move to Saudi Arabia is deemed the most realistic as he could stand to earn an eyewatering €200m a season.

Could Salah move anywhere else?

There is believed to be interest from clubs in Europe, but it is thought that any offer would be a loan deal, which is not something that Liverpool would be willing to accept.

MLS side San Diego have been mentioned as another possibility, but the American outfit have not made a concrete approach for him yet.

As things stand, Salah is odds-on to move to Al-Hilal or another Saudi team if a fee can be agreed.

Will Liverpool sign a replacement?

Due to Salah’s unique characteristics, it is unlikely that a left-footed right winger will be snapped up in January. There is said to be interest in Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise, but the France international is not expected to move mid-season.

The departure of Liverpool’s No.11 will, however, greatly increase the chances of a bid being made for Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo. The 25-year-old has a £65m release clause in his contract, which can be triggered in the first two weeks of next month.

Semenyo is predominantly right-footed and usually prefers to play off the left flank, but he could be deployed on the right as a stopgap until a better solution can be found next summer.
