Marc Cucurella has impressed for Chelsea over the past few weeks.
The Spaniard started in the Champions League match against Atalanta on Tuesday but put in a disappointing performance… at least according to the opinion of the Italian media.
Chelsea lost 2-1, thanks to the Bergamo club’s second-half comeback.
Gazzetta dello Sport rate Cucurella as ‘the worst’ Chelsea performer, and rated him at just 5/10.
As far as Gazzetta see it, the Spanish international was ‘overwhelmed’ in the game. The newspaper state the 27-year-old made uninspired runs throughout the game, with Charles de Ketelaere sending him ‘crazy’ in the second half.
Cucurella was ‘always late’ with his challenges, and has one of his worst performances of the season.
It’s likely just a blip in what should be a good season for the player. In Italy, further emphasis is placed on defending for fullbacks and there’s often snipes sent to players who are more attacking.
That may be partly why Gazzetta dello Sport picked Marc Cucurella out as the worst pefformer.
