Beyond Christmas is the January transfer window, and one of the biggest names heading into January is Antoine Semenyo, who will have a £65m release clause up until the 10th January. It has sent several Premier League clubs into rapture, as the Bournemouth star has been incredibly good over the past couple of seasons.

Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and Man City have all been linked, but according to the Sun, Semenyo is prepared to reject a move to Spurs, as he would rather move to Arsenal, City or Liverpool. It sounds very much like the Eberechi Eze saga in the summer, and could leave the Gunners smug, and Tottenham red-faced.

Could Arsenal go after Semenyo in January?

The simple answer is no, it’s unlikely that Arsenal would spend £65m on a player who won’t necessarily play every game, and is in a position where they already have sufficient depth. However, they could sign him if they needed a replacement for someone.

Gabriel Martinelli has been linked with a move away, and so Arsenal could sell him, and then replace the Brazilian with Semenyo, who is technically, and based on stats this season, a much better player than Martinelli.

However, Semenyo’s most likely destination seems to be Liverpool, as the Mo Salah saga rolls on, the Reds will need to find a long-term replacement for the Liverpool legend, and Semenyo seems like the ideal player for the job.

So far this season, the Ghana international winger has scored six goals, and provided three assists for Bournemouth, winning the hearts of not only Cherries fans, but also every single FPL manager who has a forfeit on the line.
