Liverpool make Mohamed Salah decision ahead of Brighton

Plenty of discourse has been going around regarding whether Mohamed Salah will be back in the squad against Brighton on Saturday. The unraveling of Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool tenure has accelerated dramatically over the past seven days. What has emerged is nothing short of a fundamental breakdown in trust between one of football’s most decorated attacking talents and the institution he has called home since 2017. At 33 years old, the Egyptian maestro finds himself at a crossroads. Having just committed to fresh contract terms merely months ago, it seems unthinkable he could leave as soon as January. However, that remains a possibility.

The Egyptian explained during his incendiary interview last weekend that he asked his family to attend the home clash at Brighton as it could be his last game as a Liverpool player. But it seems that his family may not even see the 33-year-old feature at all. At least, that’s according to talkSPORT, who report that it is unlikely that the Egyptian will play against the Seagulls. Journalist Alex Crook reports: “Mo Salah appears unlikely to play for Liverpool in this weekend’s Premier League clash at home to Brighton. Salah paid the price for his explosive take-down of manager Arne Slot by being left at home for Tuesday’s much-needed 1-0 Champions League triumph at Inter Milan.”

Meanwhile, the Liverpool No.11 has already been linked to Saudi Arabia as soon as the January window. Reliable outlets including RMC Sport as well as the Telegraph have both reported that the Saudi Pro League will do all they can to try and coax the Egyptian out of Anfield in winter. The Saudis have demonstrated patience and financial muscle in their pursuit of Salah, and his recent comments have only strengthened their resolve. Whether the move materializes in January or during the summer of 2026, Saudi Arabia’s determination to bring their prized target to the Middle East seems to have never been stronger.
