Mavericks’ Lively to have season-ending foot surgery

Dallas Mavericks center Dereck Lively II will undergo season-ending surgery on his right foot to address lingering discomfort, the team announced Wednesday.

Lively, who played seven games this season, is expected to make a full recovery and be available for the start of training camp.

Lively underwent surgery on the foot in July to clean out bone spurs. He missed more than two months last season due to a stress fracture in his right ankle.

He missed nine games earlier this season due to a sprained right knee, returning Nov. 14.
