Manchester City star reveals retirement plans – Has got it all worked out

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has spoken publicly about his long-term future and even touched on the possibility of coaching once he retires.

The 31-year-old, who is in the final year of his contract at the Etihad, gave the comments to DAZN, relayed here by A Bola. His answers offer a rare look into how he imagines life after playing.

Bernardo admitted that he still does not know how he will feel when he eventually steps away from football. He noted the demands of a career that began in the youth ranks and now includes almost a decade at Manchester City. “I don’t know if, when I finish my career, I will miss football or not. I think I will. Football brings a load of travel and energy that is difficult,” he said.

He explained that the intensity of elite football leaves little time for personal life. “With 20 years, or more with the youth years I gave to football, I will want to spend time with my family. I will want to travel with my wife. I will want to give time to my children,” he added.

Even so, the midfielder did not rule out a return to the game in a different role. “I don’t know if I will want to give that time back to football after I finish my career. But without a doubt, if I return it will be as a coach, and I think I will have the ability to do it,” he said.

Bernardo is in his ninth season at Manchester City. His contract situation continues to attract attention in Portugal, as he’s constantly linked to a Benfica return.

These latest comments, however, keep the focus firmly on his personal long-term plans while he completes another season in England.
