The hype around 24-year-old Toni Fruk has grown over the past week, and usually involves Arsenal. Andy Bara, the HNK Rijeka player’s agent visited London and that was all it took for claims of a deal being close.
Fruk has scored 10 goals and contributed two assists in 26 matches for HNK Rijeka this season. He’s already a full Croatia international and will expect to go to the World Cup.
As as well Arsenal, clubs like Atletico Madrid, PSG and Liverpool have been credited with interest, but maybe somewhere like Aston Villa would be better.
The Aston Villa push comes from Croatia’s Sportske Novosti. In a lengthy article they explain the current situation, before stating what would be the best option. Given he currently plays for HNK Rijeka in the Croatian league, it’s believed a transfer to the very top level may be too big a jump.
Therefore, clubs such as Aston Villa, Villarreal, Bayer Leverkusen, Milan and Lille are named. It’s believed such a move would work better for the player.
Bara, the agent, confirmed Arsenal interest on Wednesday.
“Yes, it’s true, Arsenal want to bring him in.”
He also dismissed a deal being close: “Whenever someone sees me in a city, stories start immediately. Now someone saw me in London and here comes this one. So, there is no story, except for that one.
“Many clubs are following Toni Fruk, many are interested, but for now there are no concrete talks or negotiations about a possible transfer of Toni. With no interested club.”
