Match Pack: Liverpool

Aston Villa wrap up their 2025 home campaign against Liverpool in the Women's Super League this evening.

A crucial clash under the lights at Villa Park awaits Natalia Arroyo's side as they look to get their season back on track.

The Villans come into the fixture on the back of back-to-back losses, for the first time this season, but will be looking to return to their more familiar form.

Villa were most recently defeated by Tottenham Hotspur last Sunday as they fell to a stoppage time loss.

10-players Villa defied the odds by taking the lead through Kirsty Hanson in the 84th minute but Tottenham struck back instantly through Bethany England.

A point was then snatched away from Arroyo's side as Olivia Holdt lashed home to seal the win in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

Livepool were also denied a point on the road the last time they were in action.

Gareth Taylor's side faced Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium and Beata Olsson cancelled out Olivia Smith's early opener in the 30th minute.

But just as the Reds were looking to be heading home with a point for their efforts Stina Blackstenius found an 88th minute winner for the Gunners.

HIGHLIGHTS | Liverpool 1-2 Aston Villa

Villa turned their 2024/25 season around the last time they faced Liverpool as they picked up a vital three points back in March with a 2-1 away win.

A second-half penalty kick from Marie Höbinger put the Reds ahead but substitute Kirsty Hanson came off the bench to make an instant impact as she levelled the scoring in the 68th minute with a terrific effort.

The Villans kept piling on the pressure and eventually got their long-awaited reward as Ebony Salmon forced an own goal from Jenna Clark in the 87th minute to seal the side’s first league win of the calendar year.
