Opinion: Everton should try to sign Arsenal star after striker rules himself out of Toffees…

Everton are in the market for a new striker this January transfer window as David Moyes looks to return the club to Europe.

Thierno Barry and Beto have scored two Premier League goals between them this season, so clearly Everton need to add more firepower.

Barry has been improving lately, but the young Frenchman could do with a more experienced striker to learn from.

Everton were exploring a deal to sign Joshua Zirkzee from Manchester United, and it was initially reported that he’d be open to leaving for another Premier League club.

But, Zirkzee has now ruled himself out of a move to the Toffees, insisting that he wants to stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford.

With that said, David Moyes should turn his attention to an Arsenal forward who would be absolutely perfect.

Everton should try to sign Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus

Everton have been linked with Troy Parrott in recent weeks, although there are some doubts around that potential signing.

Toffees fans think Parrott is a big risk, as he’s not a proven goalscorer in England, let alone in the Premier League.

So, instead of Zirkzee and Parrott, Everton should explore a move to sign Arsenal centre-forward Gabriel Jesus.

Jesus has just returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines with an ACL injury, so he made his first appearance of the season against Club Brugge last night.

He would be a very interesting option for the Toffees, as he’s a proven goalscorer at this level and can also create plenty of chances, too.

Mikel Arteta full of praise for Gabriel Jesus after long-awaited return

After Jesus’ 30-minute cameo last night, Arteta heaped praise on the 64-cap Brazil international.

“I think he brings something else, and I was really happy to see that and for him as well, for his confidence to grow, for his teammates to feel him as well because some of them haven’t played with him,” the Arsenal boss explained.

“So, Gabby has a really special quality where he suddenly connects everybody around him and that’s something that we as a team need and it will make us better.”

Evidently, Jesus remains a really top player, so there shouldn’t be any doubts over whether he’d be a success at Everton.

In fact, judging by Arteta’s comments, the Toffees will have some convincing to do to bring him to Merseyside.
