Real Madrid succumbed to yet another defeat on Wednesday night as they lost 1-2 to Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League.
It has now meant that Los Blancos have only two wins in eight matches across all competitions, leaving the team in a very difficult position.
It was widely speculated that a defeat against Manchester City could be the last straw for Alonso and he would be axed if the result did not go their way.
No immediate plan to fire Alonso
However, according to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid, at this point, have no intention of immediately sacking Xabi Alonso after the loss to Manchester City.
The Merengues intend to give the 44-year-old Basque tactician another chance to turn things around and get their campaign back on track after a series of disappointing results.
While the team ended up losing on Wednesday, the players showed fight and also came out to speak in support of the manager after the match.

The likes of Raul Asencio, Jude Bellingham, and Rodrygo, who even shared a warm hug with Alonso during the game, all showed support to the former Bayer Leverkusen head coach.
Given the circumstances, Real Madrid will not act in haste and will give the manager another chance to turn around the situation.
Next three games the key
Meanwhile, an alternate report from AS also indicates that the Spanish capital giants will not sack Alonso right away and that they are calm and patient as far his future is concerned.
However, the report suggests that the upcoming three matches against Deportivo Alaves (La Liga), CF Talavera (Copa del Rey), and Sevilla (La Liga), will be key in defining the manager’s future.
Earlier it was suggested that the Spanish Super Cup in January might be a decisive factor, but Real Madrid now see the next three matches and how the team performs in them as critical before deciding on Alonso’s future.
