Arsenal could be set for 40% transfer bonanza–Saudi move a Gunners gift

Arsenal sold Nuno Tavares to Lazio permanently earlier this year, after an initial loan deal in 2024.

The Portuguese impressed in the first half of last season but was later impacted by injuries. Now, his stock has reduced and he was booed by Lazio fans during their match against Bologna.

He’s now edging towards the Lazio exit. This would be a boost for Arsenal.

Il Messaggero report the Gunners have a 40% sell-on clause in his contract.

Even if Lazio CEO Claudio Lotito has publicly denied the possibility of major sales, they have to make money to avoid another transfer ban. His words are seen as window dressing ahead of sale.

As a result, intermediaries are privately at work to help Lazio fetch big offers from clubs.

Despite his struggles, the left-back is attracting interest from a club in Saudi Arabia. Tavares has said ‘yes’ to the move already and it is now down to the two clubs to negotiate.

So far, the Middle East club are offering lower than what Lazio want. However, there seems to be confidence that the 25-year-old will leave in January.

Tavares’ Lazio contract runs until 2029, and Arsenal have their fingers crossed it ends well before then.
