Former Chelsea player says the club “made a mistake” by letting player go in summer

A former Chelsea player believes that the club have made a mistake by letting a player go in the summer just gone.

Paul Parker, who actually played most of his games in his career for Manchester United, did actually also play for Chelsea too! He made four appearances for The Blues in the 1997 season believe it or not.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea have THREE Premier League centre midfielders on the radar – two they would LOVE to sign!

It was towards the end of his career and actually the last professional minutes that the full back played out before retiring.

Parker has been speaking about Chelsea this week and more accurately, a player that he believes they never should have let go in the summer transfer window.

We all remember this story. Nicolas Jackson was being loaned out to Bayern Munich. Liam Delap goes and gets a bad injury right at the end of the transfer window and Chelsea all of a sudden in panic mode, ask Jackson to stay and not complete his loan move away. However, the striker was dead set on joining Bayern and was not coming back to Chelsea for love nor money.

Chelsea made a mistake?

Parker believe so. In words picked up on X, the former defender said:

“I think it’s already clear that Chelsea made a mistake letting go of Nicolas Jackson in the summer. I don’t think Enzo Maresca worked hard enough at managing him, which is why they slipped up and let him go.

“I don’t think he knew what kind of player he had. I’ve always been a fan of Jackson. He never stops running, and every time he made a mistake, he’d be the first player to try and win that ball back.”
