British reports linking Burnley and Everton with Botafogo right-back Vitinho did not take long to prompt a detailed response in Brazil.
It was said earlier this week that the two Premier League clubs had stepped up their interest in the 20-year-old (who played for Burnley from 2022 to 2024). The rumour travelled fast, yet Botafogo quickly moved to downplay it and offered a clearer view of the situation.
Alessandro Brito, director of sporting management, spoke to theclub’s official channelsand stressed that no approach has reached Botafogo in any form.
He also highlighted that Vitinho remains settled at the club and has repeatedly stated this in recent interviews. Brito said the speculation coming from England and circulating across social media does not match Botafogo’s reality.
The director argued that the club’s internal market-mapping team has not identified any movement from Burnley or Everton, which reinforces the belief that the links stem from early monitoring rather than concrete interest.
“He is very happy here. He even said that in recent interviews. We have not had anything official. I also saw that report about their interest. For the club, speaking for myself… We have a department dedicated to this, a trading-style area that maps the market”, he said.
“They also did not receive anything. So it is another social-media enquiry. Nothing official came to us or to the player, because we have a direct connection with them. We are not aware of anything”, he added.
Brito’s comments underline how the club views the current scenario. Vitinho does attract scouts, and Premier League sides have watched Brazilian prospects more closely in recent windows. Even so, the right-back’s immediate future remains unchanged, as no negotiation is underway and no offer lies on the table.
Whether Burnley or Everton choose to escalate their interest will depend on future developments, but at this stage the story remains in the realm of early speculation.
